Explore the 2024.2 Update for CData Drivers and Connectors

Update for CData Drivers and Connectors

The latest CData Driver and Connector update (2024.2) continues CData's mission to add connectivity for new data sources while improving and expanding existing connectivity solutions. This release adds two new sources (Salesforce Data Cloud and PingOne), introduces some necessary but breaking changes to Marketo and Amazon Marketplace, and many more key enhancements across a variety of data sources.

New data sources: Salesforce Data Cloud and PingOne

CData Drivers now offer integration with Salesforce Data Cloud and PingOne, adding more critical business applications to the suite of solutions CData provides for enabling analytics, reporting, and more on enterprise data.

  • Salesforce Data Cloud: Salesforce Data Cloud helps unify all your business data onto the Salesforce platform, creating a 360-degree view of your customers by combining external application and warehouse data with Salesforce. With CData Drivers and Connectors, users can easily access this unified data system from their preferred tools and applications. Learn more.
  • PingOne: PingOne is a cloud-based identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) platform for secure identity access management. With CData's Drivers and Connectors, users can now easily query, analyze, and report on PingOne user attributes using familiar tools.

Breaking changes: Marketo and Amazon Marketplace

While CData strives to maintain backward compatibility across releases, occasionally, a vendor will make changes to their API that require significant changes to our solutions. In this release, two such services required major, breaking changes:

  • Marketo: Changes to the Marketo API meant CData needed to redesign our solutions to better maintain future-forward functionality. The changes affect virtually all functionality for the drivers and connectors, but they are well-documented in the help documentation and summarized in our knowledge base notice: Notice for all Marketo Driver Users Regarding December 2024 Release
  • Amazon Marketplace: Amazon replaced the Fulfillment Inbound API v0 with v2024-03-20. Users who access data from specific tables, views, and stored procedures in CData will need to update their connector:
    • Table: InboundShipmentTransport Details
    • Views: InboundPreparationInstructions, InboundShipmentPreorders
    • Stored Procedures: ConfirmInboundShipmentPreorder, ConfirmInboundShipmentTransport, CreateInboundShipmentPlan, EstimateInboundShipmentTransport

Key enhancements: linked servers, Power BI on ARM, Veeva Vault CRM, more SaaS UI URLs

In release 2024.2, CData continues to improve upon its products, offering increased performance and usability to its driver and connector suite.

  • Improved performance in SQL Server linked servers: SQL Server linked servers built using the CData SQL Gateway can expect up to 10x performance improvement across all 270+ sources.
  • Power BI Connectors for Windows 11 running on ARM64 CPUs: Apple Mac customers running Windows 11 on Parallels can now use CData Power BI Connectors directly in their Parallels virtual machines.
  • Access to Veeva Vault CRM: The drivers and connectors for Veeva Vault have been updated to include support for the newly released, future-forward Vault CRM. Learn more here: CData Supports Veeva Vault CRM
  • More sources with SaaS UI URLs in query results: Continuing the implementation from the last release, users will now find report URLs in query results for Confluence, Jira, Marketo (Leads), and SharePoint.

Other enhancements

  • All sources: CData Drivers support various window functions, which allow you to create computed fields from a group of rows that return a result for each row. This support now includes the LAG function that allows you to access a previous row— useful for calculating the difference between the current row and the previous row.
  • Airtable: Added a stored procedure to upload CSV files, batch operations, and access to comments.
  • Amazon Athena: Improved performance for 4x - 9x faster queries. Avro: added support for the following logical types: big-decimal, timestamp-nanos, local-timestamp-nanos, and UUID of type fixed.
  • Bing Ads: Added DataExclusion and SeasonalityAdjustment tables.
  • Confluence: Added create, update, and delete operations for Pages. The Spaces view can now retrieve the Description field. Added UserContentRestrictions and GroupsContentRestrictions views.
  • Databricks: Option to disable SELECT version() for improved performance.
  • DB2: Added Kerberos authentication support.
  • DocuSign: Added support for billing invoices, billing payments, billing plans, and cloud storage data.
  • Dynamics 365: Enable change tracking through stored procedures (previously only available manually in Power Apps).
  • Exact Online: Added the AssemblyBillOfMaterialHeader and AssemblyBillOfMaterialMaterials tables.
  • Facebook: Added support to update the Post table, allowing users to modify messages.
  • Github: Added new tables and columns:
    1. Information schema: EnterpriseAdmins, EnterpriseAdminInvitations, EnterpriseMembers, EnterpriseUnaffiliatedMemberInvitations, and ProjectStatusUpdates.
    2. Repository schema: Environments and IssuePullRequests.
    3. Project schema: StatusUpdates.
  • Google Ad Manager: Update the default API version to 202408.
  • Jira Service Desk: Updated the RequestSLACycles view to only fetch records for services where the authenticated user is added as a request participant and not for all service requests
  • Microsoft Excel: The new Include Subdirectories property and Directory Retrieval Depth property allow you to access Excel files within the sub-folders of a specified root folder, allowing for easier aggregation across files in business intelligence (BI) and reporting tools.
  • OData: Added support for retrieving annotations at the schema level.
  • QuickBooks Online: supported Inventory Valuation Detail Report.
  • ServiceNow: Set the Use Display Column Names property to true to use ServiceNow GUI column names instead of API names.
  • SharePoint (SOAP): Drivers and connectors now upload files in chunks to avoid errors when uploading files.
  • YouTube Analytics: Add Audience Retention Report view.
  • Zoho CRM: Added AllowedFromAddresses, EmailTemplateAttachements, and EmailTemplates.
